Nitry

Cynthia Ramos, better known by her stage name Nitry, was born on the vibrant island of São Vicente and spent most of her childhood in the scenic Monte Sossego region. At the age of nine, her life took a turn when she was separated from her mother due to emigration and grew up under the care of her father, who eventually followed suit.

However, Nitry’s real motivation for diving into the world of Hip Hop was her desire to challenge the prevailing mindset regarding the discrimination faced by women in Rap. Fueled by this ambition, she founded the group “Wives of Rap”, made up of five women, with the aim of establishing their presence in a male-dominated industry.

After her initial success, Nitry continued to make waves with her 2015 single, “Kara & Koroa”, which received enthusiastic reviews and an overwhelming response, selling out downloads in less than 24 hours, she has performed at numerous festivals and events, making her mark at the National Hip Hop Festival, Rhythms and Poetry Festival, Sal Municipality Youth Festival, Sumol Festival, Gamboa Festival, Somos Cabo Verde Gala, among many others.

In 2021, Nitry released the single “Flado Mudjer Ka Ta Repa” in partnership with Billy Family Records in Portugal, boldly expressing her views and fearlessly challenging society’s stereotypes. His dedication and consistent efforts led to his nomination for “Best Hip Hop” at the Cape Verde Music Awards 2021 for the standout track “Realiza”, featuring Ana Semedo and produced by Condutor, a member of the renowned Buraka SOM Sistema.

Throughout his journey, Nitry has collaborated with international artists, earning widespread acclaim and praise, including a nomination for “Best Collaboration” at CVMA 2022.

She was one of those selected to be part of the Sounds of All Colors collective and will thus have the opportunity to perform on the LG by Radio SBSR.FM stage at Super Bock or on LG by MegaHits at Meo Sudoeste 2023.
